Even I know it's sad to say that I'm not a big fan of Christmas music. I mean I like the songs, and certainly appreciate the sentiment and melody. But for whatever reason, they tend to make me feel a little blue.
I've always been a thinker, and always been more prone to being melancholy than not, but the Christmas blues is odd even for me as I've always had wonderful times at Christmas.
This dichotomy of the holiday musical tradition met its match some time back, when someone I was very much in love with LOVED Christmas music. In fact, when he arrived in Southern California, he could not believe that at least one radio station had not converted to total Christmas music right after Thanksgiving.
Coming from the Southern States, he informed me it was more than common, it was expected, that Christmas music would flow from any number of stations as the season came about.
I think things are a little different now. At least on Satellite Radio, I know they feature Holiday Stations that play traditional music depending up on the time of year.
Anyway, as much as I find that type of music to put me in a funk, this song here does anything but that. It's fun, light and an arrangement I am told is old, but new to me. And the animation is terrific!
I hope you like this as much as I do. So for you SJP, here's The Drifters singing White Christmas.
