I volunteered for a couple of campaigns even before I could vote. I have always been a lover of the ideals of the Democratic Party.
I'm not sure when I stopped, but there was a time when I would endeavor to read the Democratic Platform during presidential election years. I also tried reading the Republican Platforms as well, but ... well, as Barbara Bush famously once said, or something very similar; "oh, no one pays attention to that. It doesn't mean anything," in response to a question about how her husband could support a particularly hateful platform one year.
Well I never thought I would say this but, i'm wondering if I'm a member of the right party. Not that I could ever become a Republican, but if it's true, that the Democrats have caved on the Public Option to the proposed Health Care Reform ...well, then I guess I'm wondering why I support a party that doesn't support me.
While I am well aware that politics isn't pretty and sometimes you have to give a little to get. The idea that we're going to give everything for nothing, well I just don't understand.
Maybe someone can explain it to me.
