A buddy sent the first link below. I don't have a clear recollection of this, but it sounds familiar. 1979 and 1980 was still a time before personal computers and communications among fans was via mail or telephone.
I remember getting calls from friends in the middle of the night (which never made my parents very happy as I didn't have a phone in my room) telling me new tidbits they had learned about the next saga in the Star Wars trilogy.
Of course I was as guilty as the next guy. When we managed to obtain a copy of a trailer for The Empire Strikes Back before it had been released I asked a friend to screen it for me after his last show (he was projectionist at a local theater). After having seen it I called by buddy in Phoenix which was an hour ahead in time so middle of the night really was middle of the night for him.
So here is a telephone update for TESB, and below that a rare trailer for the same movie. Notice the kiss Princess Leia gives Luke; very different from the final film. After all, fans were still debating who would end up with the girl.
And if the voice sounds familiar to you, it should. That's a very excited Harrison Ford.
